dasatcopthorne
Hi Guys. I need to build some tramway style OHL for a 4mm layout. Can anyone point me towards pictures on the web showing differing styles. This is the sort on the Harton Railway or Southern in yards etc. I've searched without success so far. Cheers Dave
Guest oldlugger
Dave, have a look at this website that has loads of tramway photos around Europe, including Britain (historic as well):- http://www.railfaneurope.net/ Was it Harton Gill you meant in your post? If so have a look at NE electrified colliery railways such as this:- http://www.geoffspag...ials/westoe.htm Cheers Simon
dasatcopthorne
Simon. Unbelieveable!!!! I've been searching for ages for pics like this. Always searching on words like Harton and NBC etc. You nailed it in one. And yes, it's for Harton Gill. I've kind of offered to re-do the overhead. Cheers again Dave

RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted October 23, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 23, 2011 There was a recent thread on photos of Oxley Carriage Sidings. There's at least one on it showing the 25kv tramway style wiring there. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/31212-photos-of-oxley-carriage-depot-wolverhampton/page__pid__378075&do=findComment&comment=378075

dasatcopthorne
As for the overhead I am actually doing, have been trying 16/16 gauge nickle plated guitar wires. Quite good but because it's not stretchable I can't get rid of the coil effect. So after a search I found a company called Scientific Wire on the internet and ordered a small real of some .6mm copper wire. This is stretchable and provides a lovely straight wire ready for hanging. Just the job. Cheer guys Dave
