philiprporter
Apart from the Farish 87 and Dapol 86 is it possible to get kits or ready to run models of any of the other early UK AC electrics (classes 81-85)? Thanks, Phil.
RMweb Gold Adam1701D Posted October 13, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 13, 2011 As far as I know, the only other was a short-lived resin Class 85 kit from the now-defunct "It's N Gauge". I wouldn't hold your breath to see this one return. I produce some conversion kits for AC EMUs - Currently the Class 302, 310 and 312 are available with more on the way. RMweb Gold Revolution Mike Posted October 13, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 13, 2011 Judith Edge do an etch for either an 81 or 85. I am not sure if it listed but if not speak to Michael about it's It is not a full kit but a very nice etch. other option is to hack a TPM 87 kit as Dickie Dockerill did to great effect. RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted October 20, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2011 We have done some etches for 81 and 85, these are not complete (they are 2mm reductions of the parts used to make patterns for DC kits) but none in stock at present. philiprporter
Many thanks for the comments everyone - much appreciated. Michael do you know when and if you might have the etches back in stock? Best wishes, Phil.
edcayton
I'm fairly sure that Wrenn produced one (or at least it was sold under the Wrenn name) many moons ago. Ed
edcayton
A few minutes on Google confirms that it was made by Lima, and introduced in 1967 (when I was playing with Lone Star treblo-lectric), and the electric loco was joined by a "BR standard class 4 tank" of sorts. frobisher
The Lima model is an "as built" AL6 / Class 86 though it's sometimes listed as a Class 81 (which it isn't). It's a bit on the porky side though
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted October 25, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2011 I'm not sure when we will run this one again, snag with the 2mm etches is that there is so much on each sheet and almost all the locos on this one are still in stock. There is only enough for one 81 or one 85 on each sheet. depending on how many you would need it might be better to repeat them on another sheet.
