How many 37s?

Recommended Posts

I was passing the Stowmarket DRS stabling point the other day & had to stop and take a photo. Two sidings both packed with stock & no less than 8 class 37s in residence. Considering that this is basically a dieseling point with no crew cabin or anything I was suprised by how much was there. The lines to the left are the Great Eastern mainline between Norwich and Liverpool St. If you stuck that much stock in sidings on a layout no one would take you seriously.

The annual DRS thrash-fest, sorry, RHTT season is much looked forward to in East Anglia. Previous seasons have been Class 20 dominant, last year Cl57 and Cl66 shared duties with the EE engined classics.

This year they are spoiling us!

Incidentally, the DRS crews have a bothy in one of the rooms in the up side station building.

Try to get some more pictures at the end of the season, they'll be absolutely filthy (the stock, not the crews).

Best move I've ever seen was at Stowmarket in RHTT season.

A 90 expired at Stowmarket - pan head got caught in the 'knitting'.

A pair of 20's, sandwiching RHTT wagons, dragged the dead 90, a full rake of Mk3s and a DVT back to Norwich. Hellfire :D
