millerhillboy
As the topic suggests just looking for the best looking 2mm/N gauge telegraph poles. Any recommendations?
devondynosoar118
Ratio ones are pretty good if you cut off a few of the extra insulators you don't need from the bigger ones.
millerhillboy
Aren't the ratio ones all different sizes and/or configurations? I don't need loads but probably need a good few, for some reason it doesn't feel right to buying packs of stuff if I can only use a % of the content... RMweb Premium Kris Posted October 22, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2011 Ratio ones are all different sizes and configurations which is a real pain as they are the best models in 2mm.
Tricky-CRS
How about buying 1mm towel. A model cost company in Cornwall see it. You could then use fine wire to add the detail.
Pyewipe Jct
Bob Jones at Fence Houses Model Foundry sells a 2mm scale etch for the rails & insulators that you can attach to a suitable pole. His price list is a bit hard to find, but this link should take you to the most recent version posted on his blog (although it is a couple of years old now, so probably best to contact him to check the prices): Fence Houses price list (towards the bottom of the page) Hope this helps, Kevin
millerhillboy
Thanks to all for replies, a few options there then. Some of that Bob Jones stuff is different class! I'd picked up on his 9F build a year or two ago, the black 5 looks like its of similar superb standard.
devondynosoar118
You can use all the Ratio ones simply by chopping off the more complex poles until they match the ones you want, simple and as they are plastic if you get a bit cack handed, as I often do, then they don't break as easily as the finer etched ones. Having examples of both kits sat on the "to build" pile it's easy to see the similarities. I have a feeling that Bob's pots will need solder blobs adding to make these into 3d models.
