robertcwp
I bought the new Irwell Press book Warships in Colour (64pp, £11,95) today at the Tolworth show. Whilst there are some interesting photos, many of the images have been reproduced very poorly, being washed out, grainy or dark.
Baby Deltic
I found the book a bit on the 'malnourished' side, page wise aswell.
cary hill
many of the images have been reproduced very poorly, being washed out, grainy or dark. If memory serves did Irwell not have some similar photographic reproduction problems with their earlier "The Book of the Warships"? There must be some sort of "blindspot" re Warships, as I am a satisfied purchaser of several of their publications.
BrushVeteran
Yes I too am rather disappointed with the standard of reproduction as many of the pictures are very interesting. I note there is even one of my images reproduced (one of the better ones) and incorrectly credited to Moden Image Slides. However it is a good record of the class as a whole and together with the new Strathwood volume 'Looking back at Warships', provides a nice colour tribute to an iconic period in our lives.
