leopardml2341
Good Morning ! Some time ago I asked for help with soiurcing details of a Brush Type 4 loco via these pages having tried all the obvious sources on 'tinterweb, admittedly with some success, but by far the best info came from RMWebbers. So I'm at it again - this time I'm looking for info on D217 Carinthia; 'twas I believe the first Class 40 namer I saw and IIRC still in green too. Would've been '72/73 at Crewe on my first true spotting jaunt (thanks Grandad) outside my usual haunts of Rotherham / Sheffield / Doncaster - not many 'liners' there - when I was about 9 /10. Google and Flickr searches don't turn up much and other loco register sites show it losing its plates c.1971 - pretty sure this is not correct given the dates I remember above. If anyone does have further info / pics that detail its paint / name history etc I would be really grateful if you could share them here. I plan to take a foray into dcc sound shortly and will probably buy a Bachmann 40 already sound fitted or do some serious work with the Lima one I already have. To replicate 217 as I first saw it would be great - if only I could find the info - 'twould be like bein 8 or 9 all over again - what an impression it must have made ? Many thanks in advance, Andy editted for carp spelling !
