Coombe Barton Posted November 27, 2011 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Depends where in Devon; From memory: Millbay was loacal limestone, white/light grey and easy to dress North Road was timber Kingsbridge was similar to Millbay and either from Plymouth or Berry Head. Buckfastleigh and Ashburton were Ashburton Marble, which was in small bits and not able to be dressed very well. It was also pinkish, but (from certain beds) polished black. Totnes was timber Staverton was brick Princetown was rendered There's isn't a generic "GW rock type" used fro buildings - they used what was cheapest most economical [Edited to add Princetown] Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
