Class 47 Further Liveries - When?

Sadly this is all very shortsighted, retailers should really be listening to what the customer is looking for

I get the impression that this is the real issue. Bachmann only seem to have contact with modellers via retailers, and certainly only listen to retailers, but there are very few retailers these days seem to take the effort (or have the marketing acumen) to actually engage with customers and feed their preferences up the chain.

The box shifters clearly have a good idea of what sells, but don't really have any dialogue with their customers, making interpretation of their sales data just a circular self-fulling prophecy. Many smaller shops don't seem to be at all adept at judging what to stock at all, and often seem ignorant of whats available in N gauge at all, especially with regard to Dapol. If you tried stocking it regularly, people might buy it!

The main issue with a Class 47 in ScotRail livery is that this would also require another run of Mark 2 and Mark 3 coaches in the same livery...

That didn't seem to have stopped them doing the FGW blue 57 without the Night Riviera Mk3s in neon stripes.

At least one Scotrail 47/7 ran in both NSE and Parcels sector still carrying full Scotrail colours and name for a couple of years.

This suggests the FGW Sleepers are due to be released (hidden catalogue number)

Equally, Farish are possibly taking into account that serious modellers revinyl their coaches...

The ScotRail 47/7 that were transferred away and being operated by NSE and Parcels sectors weren't strictly in that livery any more

Just before transfer the ScotRail logos were painted over or were already scheduled for overhaul, just by luck two were overhauled before transfer (but that was a separate issue)

Many of the nameplates were left in place, as Provincial (including ScotRail) didn't have any locos on which to transfer the nameplates to

Equally, the same applies with many other locos during this period, with locos in previous sector liveries but being operated by a new sector allocation the loco had received (ironically this resulted in some locos being allocated back to ScotRail in other liveries)

This has helped with my own layout as I have an ever growing list of locos that visited Glasgow Queen Street between 1984 and 1996 (or could have), in all kinds of liveries that you wouldn't normally expect (such as Railfreight Grey, Red Stripe Railfreight, Triple Grey Coal, NSE, and so on)

Realistically, most recent re-liveries on models in both the 4mm and 2mm ranges from Bachmann have been carbon copied from the 4mm range to Farish e.g. the new 37 liveries that were announced during last year - Saltire Society in triple grey with distribution branding etc.

Judging from recent Bachmann adverts for 4mm this might mean that Scotrail, revised NSE, Railfreight Red stripe, and Petroleum sector are on the cards as most likely candidates!

I noticed this some time ago, but there is now quite a lag between releases in OO gauge and then N gauge

However N gauge versions of the following are most likely :

47710 ScotRail

47715 NSE

47190 TPG Petroleum (uses the body of 47535)

If the timeline is right, once the upgraded 37/4 is released, this next run of Class 47 might be released just in time for Christmas (2013)

Here's hoping

Yup these would be nice but hopefully there will be "standard issues" of ordinary bog standard unnamed Two Tone Green and BR blues 47's as well for us BR guys.Ive refrained from the retooled 47's cos of the ride height issues (since corrected) and later the liveries that were applied to them.A few "domino" and plated headcode 47's will find a place on my layout.Mind you major saving will have to done for these especially with a Deltic on the way and if a retooled 40 or 25 breaks cover from Farish!!!-happy days!!

There were a couple that ran without the Scotrail logo, but 47704 "Dunedin" retained the full Scotrail livery in 1991
