Rods_of_Revolution
Hi, Please could someone with the know give me a quick run down or point me to a source of the dimensions of BR Double Arrow Sizes, Locomotive Numbers and BR Logos (Railfreight, Sector Stickers) and the like? Many thanks, Kindest Regards, Jack
Rods_of_Revolution
I have some of the basic dimension but I'm stuck as to which locomotives they belong to; For example: Large Logo Arrows it seems came in two sizes 2400mm/2700mm long. Am I correct in assuming they are 37/47 respectively? Kindest Regards, Jack
Pugsley
I think the larger ones were for the 37's and 50's, they've got deeper body sides than 47's, but I'm not 100% sure.
Rods_of_Revolution
Thanks for the response Martin! I have been trawling the internet and you can find all sorts of obscure information but sometimes the most simple information evades you. I have also been overlaying several BR logos from photos and they have a slightly different angles to each other which futher adds to my confusion! Did depots sometimes make their own? Pugsley
Yes, at least some of the Large Logos were painted on by depots, rather than transfers. There was one 37 that had painted logos that were miles out and quite strange looking, but I can't remember which one it was, ISTR that there was a limited edition model of it available at one point. Raffles
47578 had some home-grown arrows and very messy they were too. I think the 37 that Martin refers to was 37025 and it's arrow was nicely reproduced on Bachmann's model.
Steadfast
I think although the 37 is deeper cantrail to solebar, a smaller logo was used due to the smaller flat area on the bodyside. Here's a pic I've found - it looks a bit non standard on the 37 http://www.flickr.com/photos/kerryp28/6103524339/sizes/o/in/photostream/ They both appear to have the same size logo. On a 37 it normally came to just below the sandbox and doesn't fill the gap between the grills like in the pic above (about 300mm bigger like the quoted sizes perhaps?), thus: http://www.flickr.com/photos/httpwwwpeakdaleworkscom/5707503575/sizes/o/in/photostream/ I've also seen pics with a very long bottom leg, presumably the larger size, with the top leg of the arrow cut down to fit the 37 body. I guess a bit of a case of find a pic of the prototype you want to model! Just to confuse matters, Trainload Freight 37s had massive logos compared to 47s, as the livery was based on the division of the greys jo
