hornbyhall
Is it okay to run loco's double headed on standard DC analogue controllers?
craigwelsh
Yup though they might be fighting each other a little with a mismatch of motor/gearing.

Sam Moss
Most will run fine together. Some steam will even run pretty much ok with Diesel too so prototypical double heading due to a failed loco can be done.

Rods_of_Revolution
Most will run fine together. Some steam will even run pretty much ok with Diesel too so prototypical double heading due to a failed loco can be done. Hymeks and BR "Standards" used to double head, both under power. I have even seen video on a DVD showing such an occaision, the steam locomotive was wheel slipping (I guess due to a throttle/power mismatch) behind the Hymek so even models slipping due to a motor/gear mismatch would seem to be prototypical! Cheers, Jack
Il Grifone
I've been doing this for nearly sixty years without any problems, even mixing makes (even electric and clockwork!). As long as the power supply can give sufficient current for the two motors, they will sort themselves out. Only serious mismatch will cause one or both to slip. There could be problems with short circuits through the couplings, unless they are insulated from the loco chassis. This will not apply if the two chassis are live to the same rail of course.
