Earl Bathurst
Hi With the Hornby Railroad range releasing this as a model again I was looking for information pictures of the locos. Also would these have survived long enought to pass in to BR? Thanks
RMweb Premium Welchester Posted December 14, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 14, 2011 All were withdrawn by the end of 1933. See http://www.greatwest..._440_county.htm There are photos on the Warwickshire railways site, including two for the price of one: http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrbh22.htm (eta photo)

dapper sapper
Hi there There was a full article about the GWR 4-4-0 Counties in the May 2010 issue of Steam Days which gives details of build dates, withdrawal dates names, numbers etc together with a number of useful photos showing some variations. I have got an old Finecast kit of one of these with an etched chassis which makes up into a nice looking model except that I am having to sort out the bogie as the instructions seem a bit vague and I cannot make it work properly yet. From looking at the Hornby website I think there is much more detail on the Finecast kit than the re-issue. Hope the above is helpful to you.
jcm@gwr
Don't forget you will be able to see one soon, if you can wait for the '3 Counties Project' to come to fruition, [GWS Didcot, 1 County 4-6-0, 1 County 4-4-0 & 1 4-4-2T County Tank] Should be good to see these once they are finished Cheers, Jeff
