shortliner
....this morning in Lidl I bought a colour changing Fibre optic, battery operated, lamp for £1.99. For anyone thinking of adding ditch lights, car tail lights/indicators, welding sparks, man leaning against wall smoking a fag, etc they may be ideal - for your money you get an 11" long bundle of more FO threads than you will probably ever use in a lifetime

Prof Klyzlr
Dear Jack, Aye, it's one of these kinds of lamps that provided all of the "fibre optics" for "Brooklyn". They are not technical "fibre-optics" in the true glass-fibre data-connection sense, rather simply drawn acrylic strands. However, use a small BBQ lighter to "mushroom" the ends, and fire a hi-brightness (5000+mcd) LED into them, and they work a treat... (and yes, a single lamp will provide many layouts worth of fibres... ). AUD$3 per lamp, very do-able... trisonic
I missed this thread the first go around. I always like the idea of using alternate (seemingly) unrelated materials... Best, Pete.
