I tend to replace things as they need replacing or if I want newer functions. A 2001 computer finally got the boot last year although I kept the 2 off DVD drives and monitor which are from some time later, similarly the PC which has problem with the stick has newish SATA drives (and a 24" DVI HD monitor!) although they weren't in it to start with!
