mvrnut
I had previously asked this question in the Dapol section as it is regarding a broken buffer on a Beattie Well Tank loco but recieved no answers. So, let's try here. My Well Tank has a broken front buffer. I do not know how this happened, wether my own careless handling or in shipping. It is cracked and bent back towards the buffer beam. How do I repair this ? Or replace with another one, from where I do not know ? Is it possible to replace with a srung buffer ? Needless to say I am somewhat perplexed by this. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers, Chris
Boris
I'm not sure what the buffers look like on a Beattie Well tank, but there are a number of manufacturers in 4mm who make sprung buffers in brass or cast in white metal. Easy enough to replace, cut the buffers off the front, then you either make a hole in the buffer beam or sand it flat depending on what the back of the buffer shaft looks like. You will however have to repaint the buffer beam(s).
JeffP
As above. Search vendors like Allan Gibson, MJT, etc, or just Google model loco buffers.......
mvrnut
Many thanks for your help. I think they are possibly Drummond buffers at this time in the 1930s. Somebody more knowledgeable than I can put me right. Chris
