Exchanging Slater's wheels

 

When purchasing Slater's wagon and carriage kits directly, either mail order or at shows, it's possible to request S7 wheelsets in place of the OF ones that are packed as standard. The same applies with Parkside Dundas. In each case expect a small additional charge to reflect the slightly higher price of the alternative. (Some more enlightened traders, particularly those specialising in S7, might also offer a similar exchange service if asked).

 

When purchasing Slater's loco, carrying and tender wheels, note that they are only available in OF (with one exception) but it is possible to specify that they be supplied with axles suitable for S7, and also 7'0", 5'3", 3'6" and 3'0" gauges, Again expect a small additional charge to reflect the higher price of the alternatives, see pp22-23 of the catalogue (link below).

7mm Scale 0 Gauge: We can exchange the Slater??™s Fine Scale Wheels in our kits for either Coarse Scale (please add 30p) or Scale 7 (please add 60p). Please specify when ordering. If ordering without wheels please deduct ??7.22.

If you already have the kits and wish to exchange the wheels, then please return the wheels unused with their bearing cups, in suitable packing. Please also enclose the exchange supplement as listed above with sufficient to cover return postage.

As at December 2009 -

 

Fine Standard Wheels are supplied unless Coarse Standard or Scale 7 is specified. There is an extra charge of ??1.00 (Inc. VAT) when supplying Coarse Standard and Scale 7 wheels in these kits. Kits are not supplied to the trade with either Coarse Standard or Scale 7 wheels, so the cost of exchanging wheelsets is ??2.00, inclusive of VAT and postage.

If exchanging driving/carrying/tender axles then just return them complete with the screws on each end, for coach and wagon wheelsets you need only return the wheels on the axles. In both cases there is an expectation that the exchange parts are in good condition and unused. If you are unsure how to go about any exchanges (wheels or axles) or have any other queries concerning Slater's products then you can call 01629 583993 and listen to the options until finally advised how to reach Daphne. She is the retail sales contact and I have always found her exceedingly helpful.
