panniertank
Well, I managed to replace the broken spring in one of the carbon brush holders. Unfortunately, after re assembling the loco it still refuses to move in either direction - to be fair, the motor didn't always before reassembly unless I 'tweaked' the worm drive physically to start the motor running. The carbon brushes are not new, but hitherto did work perfectly well prior to my failed attempt to convert the loco to dcc operation previously. I gave up on that idea after experiencing problems with wires coming adrift from the (Hornby) chip itself, and have given up on the idea, at least for now. Does anyone have a definitive cause/effect theory as to why the motor 'sticks' ? If so, I'd be very obliged to hear it as the loco in question was a flawless performer prior to this. Thank you in advance.
Gordon A
What loco, brand and motor type are you talking about? A picture would be useful. Gordon A Bristol
