Boris
Gents, I have recently acquired an owners nameplate for an Express Dairies milk tank, somebody has attempted to repaint it by painting the letters white, overpainting blue and then sanding the blue off the letters, which works quite well in model form but isn't quite so effective in full size. I believe it is an aluminium pressing, although I cannot be 100% sure. Before I go too mad on this, is white on blue the correct colour scheme for this item? I've not seen another one of these and would like to get it restored and put on display with a bit of suitable interpretation. Thanks in advance
Karhedron
I believe that these were normally painted black with white lettering. There is a picture of one here on Paul Bartlett's site. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/gwrbrmilktanks/h2469d706#h2469d706

Boris
Chipping away at the paint does indeed reveal black underneath it all, interestingly though the sign has been painted dark blue at a later date (not the current top layer), but obviously quite some time ago looking at it. Still going to be black though, I have something suitable in stock to do that with.
