Saint Johnstoun
Just watched the BTC film terminus and there is a shot of what appears to be a green Pullman car marshalled between two green BR Mk1s. I didn't know that there was such a thing - am I right and can somebody come up with more information?
RMweb Gold RFS Posted March 4, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 4, 2012 In the late 1950s (details sketchy I'm afraid) some Pullmans were remodelled as buffet cars and painted in Southern Region green livery. A couple of the coaches involved are now on the Kent and East Sussex Railway - see here. http://kesr.org.uk/s...ar-company.html
Brake Compo
The cars involved were the six Restriction 0 Pullmans (ex- Camilla, Latona, Madeline, Pomona, Theodora, & Barbara) Kinder in Pullman Cars on the "Southern" 1875-1972 states that the convesion to Buffet Cars took place in 1958 and that renumbering from Pullman schedule numbers to SR Nos (S7872S - S7877S) took place in 1961, all were withdrawn by June 1963.
