theoldmansminion
not sure if this is in the right thread, so aplogies if its wrong. been thinking, and was just wondering if its possible to use the underside pl10 peco points motor, to throw a turnout, and at the same time, using the spur that protrudes beneath the motor, when in situ, to operate, something along the lines of a wire in tube , to operate a mechanical semaphore signal. just seems a bit of waste, to use a points lever, then having to do it again, to operate a signal has anyone done this with success? RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted March 8, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2012 Not quite the same, but the signal on Summat Colliery is servo driven, triggered by a peco PL13 switch on the motor that controls the catch point. There is a slight delay from throwing the catch to the servo kicking into life and moving the signal, which is nice ....
RMweb Gold RFS Posted March 8, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2012 You could mount the PL-10 underneath the baseboard using the one with the extended pin and mounted on a PL-12 base. The Pl-12 operating arm could then operate your signal.
PLD
I did it with a Seep point motor on Crumley and Little Wickhill; fitting a linkage on the bottom end of the vertical operating rod to work a mechanical point indicator (sort of a double armed signal)...
