jeffro62
Hello, first posting here . Has anyone out there ever converted one of Minicraft's 1872 Vulcan in 1/45 to an operable lok? I'm nearly done bashing one of the cars for my on30 line and it pains me that there are some decent styrene castings I could use to make something out of just lying about. Thanks Jeff rich Tennessee. BernardTPM
I've made the coaches work, but not yet the loco. The original had a very low-slung boiler but was later rebuilt with more conventional proportions; the real loco is preserved in Japan, but in its later condition. http://g-gauge.world.coocan.jp/prototype/JNR/150.html
mah644
I've previously grafted the body pieces of the Vulcan onto a Thomas the Tank Thomas chassis. The Vulcan prototype did sit low over the drivers, as has been mentioned, so the resulting conversion actually looked fairly decent, although unlike any actual other prototype I could find. (I still have the original Vulcan kit box and another whole kit I was intending to use for another conversion--different chassis.) The original conversion is long sold, so unfortunately I have no pictures. Kindest Regards, Carl
