Here's the alter ego of my British G scale layout http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php/topic/25041-the-tc-light-railway-company/page__p__254447__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=254447

The layout is based on the what if scenario of the HSB re-opening the Line to Braunlage.

After the privatisation of the Harzer Schmalspurbahn they successfully regauged the line from Gernrode to Quedlinburg from standard to metre gauge and subsequently they proposed reopening part of the SHE that was severed by the East West border after the war.

The remains of the SHE, in the West, survived until 1963 between Braunlage and Walkenreid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Harz_Railway_Company

My layout is based on the proposal to rebuild the link from the HSB line to Braunlage, either on the original formation from Sorge via Brunnensbach Muhle or on a completely new formation from Elend.

I chose to model a rationalised Brunnensbach Muhle as it leaves the option open to reinstate the junction to the line for Walkenreid if I ever have space.

Motive power will be locos from the HSB including the 2-10-2 tanks and the Rotcamel diesels, I will also be expanding the fleet of the unique 2-6-2 6001 with 'new build' locos to continue the intended class abandoned in 1939.

Here are a couple of pictures of the extension that converts the layout from its UK form to Germany. It's basically a 6ft drop in extension to extend the loops for the longer HSB trains but the rear boards that currently house the town will have alternatives too to further change the location. There will also be a new station building.
