Vonzack
Hi, I have an older N Gauge Dapol Class 66 which suffers from a really hot motor when run for a short while (5 mins). It moves OK in each direction, so I would rule out any transmission or gearing issues. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark.
Dr Al
Hi, This is common issue - don't excessively run the loco until fixed. it is due to very stiff bogie gearing and very sticky lubrication. I've seen one of these burnt out from this, and rebuilt no less than 8 others that were all the same. Once stripped and rebuilt fully freed up their running was transformed, and their current consumption cut drastically (as was resultant motor heating). Cheers, Alan
Vonzack
Hi Dr Al, Thanks for the reply, I'll do as you suggest and make sure the bogies are working correctly. Cheers, Mark.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted April 12, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12, 2012 I have a Dapol class 67 that ran stiff nd hot but it seems to be much better these days. I didn't strip it down though. Might have a look to see if the gears are gummed up just incase. Ian
