owentherail
Im a bit of a novice when it comes to "under the bonnet" stuff, is there a way of making my 4cep (or any other loco esp a class 20) to a dummy so i can run it with a 33, im not even sure i the plastic bigies are removable.... cheers owen. cromptonnut
If you want to run a 4-CEP and a 33 together then there's no reason you can't just power them both and run as a pair on the same track from the same controller. If you're on DCC then look in your manual about "consisting" so you can assign a temporary address to both CEP and loco so they run together under the same commands. Unless you have something that is 'dead' and beyond economic repair, I can't really think of a good reason to unmotorise something that has a motor in it. Is there perhaps some reason for wanting to "unmotorise" things that I haven't understood?
owentherail
sound fitted 33 and the 21 pin fitted 4cep exelerate differently and i do want it dead.
Guest 838rapid
If I remember correctly, you only need to pop the body off the 4CEP and remove the drive shaft thats between the motor and the gear tower thats on the bogie top. Its the same process on the class 20. Keep them safe though incase you you want to repower them, Hope this helps
cromptonnut
Having tested my CEP with 'dead load' capabilities it happily pulled about 8 mk 1's on the flat with no trouble at all. I wish Bachmann did an unpowered CEP unit too.
owentherail
i agree cromptonnut, and cheers 838 ill have a look, if poppping off a 4cep body was that easy, is it me or is the process of removing loco bodys getting more complicated now more of us need to do it to chip locos... ggrrrrrr
Removed a/c
Why not by a cheap 33 and trash that and have the 4CEP push the 33 ? Such as this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Lima-OO-Gauge-BR-Blue-Class-33-Diesel-Loco-D6524-/200765496242?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ebe8e5bb2#ht_1518wt_754 Probably be a lot easier to de-motor as well.
