Deathsleigh
My latest creations... The N2 is an ancient Rising Star Kit that I originally made a pigs ear of many years ago (Yes,I know 9522 never ran with Ramsbottom safety valves in this livery but they were too firmly stuck down My excuse is that Doncaster needed to get it overhauled quickly and they had an old boiler on the scrap line... ) The J71 is a scratchbuilt example bought off Ebay for a song and repainted and detailed by me lined (eventually *sigh*) with HMRS transfers...wish I'd left it in Wartime black now... RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted December 20, 2009 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 20, 2009 I like the N2.....a bit of a bruiser of an engine, and the cute J71/72 gets a look in for being pretty.
34theletterbetweenB&D
It's the cut down cab and boiler top fittings to get inside the Metropolitan's loading gauge that make the N2 look rather heftier than it really is. Quite instructive to compare it to the LMS/BR 2MTT which is larger, but looks daintier.
Deathsleigh
Ta muchly kind gents Other problem I have found with the N2 is that the frames did not allow for any play in the wheelsets and the rather long wheelbase makes for some interesting activity on curves...
