flyingsignalman
In September 1978 we went to take photos of the Down Hoylake starting Signal at Bidston Dee Jn as it was due to be replaced by a 3-aspect colourlight signal. the signal with its replacement CL signal. Some closer views and one that wasn't replaced until the Merseyrail IECC opened in September 1994 The Down Main Home 2 signals. The reason I've called it Beast's signal; is that it is one of the first, if not the first, signals he made a model of!
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted June 3, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 3, 2012 I did indeed, I think it was the second, the Canning Street tall siding / LNWR shunt was the first, but it was one of the few I really went to town on - right down to the graffiti. All destroyed in a "had enough of modelling" moment, many years ago. (For others) - The distant arm on the bracket was controlled by Leasowe Level Crossing frame. RMweb Premium Welly Posted June 3, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2012 I am a little surprised that the handrail was right in front of the lower arms.
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted June 4, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 4, 2012 I am a little surprised that the handrail was right in front of the lower arms. Fairly common on that type of structure, the handrail doesn't really obscure the view that much, and of course, drivers know where the signals are anyway (in theory!)
