Deltic Man
Good evening all I am wanting to convert a 37/9 into 37901 which has the raised roof for the mirlees engine. Does anyone know if anyone ever brought out an etch to change the roof profile on this loco? (oo scale) Thanks Nik

Pete Harvey
I have been busy after Nik posted his enquiry with regards to the 37/9 and I have designed and had produced an etch to allow an easy conversion of a Bachmann class 37 into a model of 37901. This conversion kit needs the removing of the Bachmann 37 engine deck and then fitting the new built engine deck in to the hole in the Bachmann model. I luckily had a Bachmann 37 in Transrail Livery so it was a fairly easy conversion to do but I had to think about how to patch paint the body after filling the body side window and steps. After removing the loco numbers after the 37 I used some numbers from the Heljan decal set that was in with the un-numbered class 47's they released a few years ago. After using liquid mask to cover the cab windows and lights the whole body was given a light bit of weathering and then a coat of Matt Varnish. Just got the name plate to fit when it arrives. I hope you like it? Pete
Guest jim s-w
Hi Pete I am no expert on 37/9s but I seem to recall they were all different? Which one is this suitable for, just 901? Cheers Jim

Worthy
Hi Sorry for resurecting this thread, but is the PH Designs etch freely available, or was it a one off? Can't find it on the PH Designs website. It's a stunning etch. I've gotba HM Models etched roof for the Mirlees 37-9 with the intention of converting the Vitrains 37, but would much rather use the Bachmann version asa basis for the conversion, as I prefer the Bachmann version to the Vitrains one. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
