cornish trains jez
Good afternoon everyone, I was lucky enough and honoured to be invited to this very special occasion organised by an exceptional railway photographer, John Vaughan, to mark his retirement. It was great meeting John who has inspired so many and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part, despite the rain! A private charter train was run on the fantastic Bodmin and Wenford Railway, from Bodmin General to Bodmin Parkway and back. Then the train ran along to Boscarne Junction and back to Bodmin General. Here are a selection of pictures from the day. 50042 "Triumph" warms up ready for the private charter. John holding his special headboard. John has just attached his special headboard ready for the off. The class 50 runs around the train at Bodmin Parkway to then return to Bodmin General. Arrival back at Bodmin General where 50042 detaches and moves forward for the run around ready for the second leg of the journey down to Boscarne junction. The final run round at Boscarne Junction. John proudly poses for the camera by his train just before departure and final leg of the journey back to Bodmin General. Thank you John! What an amazing day! RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted June 29, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2012 Not J E A L O U S at all... Nice one Jeremy - would love to have come and I looked a various flight/train combos for quite a while before I conceeded that €500 for a 48 hr round trip was hard to justify at present given the dire economic situation in Spain. Couldn't lose it in office expenses either! Glad you had a good time and as Mickey says we have a lot to thank JV for - he's certainly a real hero in my railway world having inspired me with his pics for over 30 years now
