Hi Folks

Im looking for some prototype info on the above mentioned.

Specifically the cab window arrangements, I know some had 2 windows, some had 3. Does anyone have any info on the specific loco numbers particularly D2425 onwards (ie those allocated to Lanarkshire/Ayrshire), early in their careers.

Im hoping to model one c1960, using a detailed Hornby body and Branchlines chassis.

Thanks in advance

Might be worth finding a copy of Modern Locomotives Illustrated No 195 (June-July 2012), which includes class 06, as well as either of Colin Marsden's diesel shunter books. The former gives the early locos (i.e. D2410-D2424) as having three rear windows, later examples (D2425-D2444) as having two.

Joe, our mutual fiend has already palmed the disgraceful Pullman 06 off on some unsuspecting party, so it's back to square one there, I'm afraid.

Regarding blunt-end windows, there's a wealth of info somewhere - possibly even in the big blue bible 'Diesel traction on Scottish Region,' but I can't place it just now. Bear with, though, as I'll be scanning some suitable sites shortly. If you happen to have a copy of October 1985 RM to hand, it features an article by yours truly on the breed.

EDIT: Locomotives Illustrated does have that gen, good spot that man!

Thanks folks, I'll try track down a copy of MLI and RM Oct 85 (Im sure we have a copy of the latter in the club rooms). I constantly forget I have the blue bible, I'll get a scan through that tonight!

No worries 'Chard on the Pullman 06, there are plenty of examples on eBay. Only really need the running plate and bodyshell anyway!

Hi Joe

Have a look at:

http://www.rcts.org....id=diesels/Cl06

Lots of info there.

For pictures - with a little effort Google can turn up a fair number.

Of course you could always build one of the Judith Edge kits - details here ( a fair bit down the page):

http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/catalogue/judithedge

An awful lot better than the slightly questionable Hornby body and probably not be any more expensive than the combination you have in mind.

Regards.

Hi Bill

Thanks for your reply (and off site emails, much appreciated). I'd actually googled all class members for info, got quite a bit of info and photo's to work from.

I did think about the JE kit, Im a novice in the black art of soldering, although the tutorial given in the club on monday night has given me confidence to give something a go, hence the Branchlines chassis I've bought. I know the errors on the Hornby model - too wide bonnet being probably the hardest to correct but you know me, I'll get tore into it!!!

See you tomorrow if you're at the club.

Hi Joe,

Good to see another modeller tackling these wee beasties! I can certainly vouch for the quality of the OO Edge kit but must admit the 7mm version would be a lot easier on the old eyes!

As far as pics are concerned, I have a gallery here : http://brucegalloway.zenfolio.com/p628663453

with additional pics here : http://brucegalloway.zenfolio.com/p599995334

and here : http://brucegalloway.zenfolio.com/p758328968

Best of luck with the model!

Bruce
