Hi Tim

The top and middle hinges are 2mm lengths of 30 thou plastic rod set in the door to panel join with solvent.

The bottom hinge starts off in the same way but after the first piece of rod has dried out it is trimmed so that the front "face" is vertical since it is on the tumblehome of the coach side.  A second piece of rod is then stuck on top.

Regards.

Do you not find the second piece of rod is easily dislodged - as the contact area between it and the trimmed bit is small?

The second piece of rod is well secured using solvent - none have come adrift after about 5 years.

Bear in mind they are fitted before painting - primer, top coat and varnish.

Regards.

Fair enough! I have had problems with solvent joints when the contact betwwen parts is small, especially on stock that is often handled.
