dullsteamer
Very amusing! I'd like to see what he could cook if he had a steam loco to play with. Some of the older enginemen I've worked with had numerous "recipes" for footplate cuisine, although we rarely got the chance to try them. On most trips we only had limited turn-around time, and so the buffet car staff would feed us once we had finished servicing the engine. But every now and then we'd be away for a few days, and we'd have time to cook a meal on the scoop - usually breakfast. Nothing beats snags, bacon and eggs straight out of the firehole! Cheers, Mark.
