valeofyork
I've got powered and unpowered Dapol Class 67s and I want to swap their bodyshells over. Is this straightforward? I'm happy taking OO gauge models apart but rather more wary with N gauge ones! Thanks
Tom J
It's a doddle but for the lighting. The dummy shells will need fitting out, but I believe you can get the lighting and looms as spares. If you're not fussed about the lighting, or, like half of my 67s, the lights don't work because the diodes have shorted due to flux on the PCB and unsoldered themselves, it's not a problem of course! valeofyork
Thanks. I intend to transfer the lights with the motored chassis - not bothered about the one becoming a dummy having lights. Is it easy to remove the lights from one bodyshell and put them in another?
54Strat
Looking at the spares from BRLines it looks like they just unplug. However, I'm not sure if there's anything in the dummy to plug into. Paul
alibuchan
when I had to take one apart to re-glue a window I had pushed out, the lights were interesting. I had to use a small jeweler's screwdriver and put quite a bit of pressure on to them to break the glue holding them in place. From what i remember the dummy has pickups, but doesn't have any of the other electrical gubbings to make the lights work correctly or to plug the light boards on too. you will probably end up with just swapping the body and ignoreing the fact that there is no lights on them.
