RMweb Premium Neil Posted October 19, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 19, 2012 I've just this week taken possession of a Mehano n gauge Alco FA2; the full details of how and why are on my blog here. Now though it's a handsome looking loco, it's the mechanism I'm really interested in, a sweet running four axle drive unit with quite a bit of weight behind it. Now what to build on top? Current thoughts are a railcar inspired by this beauty, but I'm open to other suggestions. I'll be away from workbench and computer for a few days so there's time to come up with suggestions before I cut loose with plastic and bits culled from kits. RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 19, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2012 What about a Funkey? I suspect you've seen them on or about the WHR, and they do seem to be thoroughly practical locos.
Hobby
If the bogie centres are the same as the GP40 then an Lxd2/L45H would fit as well in HO scale...
RMweb Premium Neil Posted October 22, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2012 Thanks for the suggestions chaps, both attractive prospects but over the weekend my resolve regarding the railcar has firmed up. I've dug some bits and bobs out of the boxes and trays of useful things that will hopefully give me a flying start. I'll post pictures and words as I progress.
