Donny4472
Hi there. I am currently putting together a Walthers Russell Snowplow Kit. It comes in C&NW colours, but i am planning to paint it up as a SOO Line #900185. See attached photos. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1706880 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=588662 If anyone could give me information on the correct paint colours for this plow, it would be much appreciated? Thanks very much. Donny.
Colin Stewart
Donny If you've not had any luck, can I suggest the SOO Line history group at yahoo? Colin
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted December 29, 2009 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2009 The one colour looks like CPR maroon or a darkish version of it. Humbrol used to do it. The original colour was inspired by the visit of Royal Scot to Canada, so LMS red/Crimson Lake might do as a starting point.
doctor quinn
Hi Donny, Scalecoat do CPR Tuscan Red that David refers to, in the UK, try Model Junction or MG Sharp, alternatively I've used Games Workshop Scab Red to touch up Danish State Rlys maroon, may be worth some experimentation as supplies of American paints can be difficult over here. As for the yellow, it looks quite light & I'd be inclined to use Tamiya XF3. Hope this helps Nick
F-UnitMad
Hi Donny; firstly nice to see another Soo Line fan this side of the Pond (& on RMweb!!), second I'd agree with the others; the colors look like standard Tuscan Red (the deeper one) or Boxcar Red to me. If you want the solvent-based Floquil paints (even better than their Polyscale acrylics) there is a UK supplier :- http://www.metalsmith.co.uk/floquil-paints.htm Part # 110025 is Tuscan, and #110074 Boxcar Red.
