Class 108
I live in Peterborough near to Ferry Meadows Station. Obviously a fan of our heritage line and was wondering if anybody has modelled any part of the line and if you could direct me to the right place to view any such model. Thanks Alan
Coldgunner
Don't know of any particular modellers who have undertaken the NVR. Might be worth contacting their model group, see if anyone has tackled it. "Great Northern" has tackled Peterborough North though. It would be an interesting prject though, especially the prospect of mixing HO/OO. The IRPS sells the wagon-lits that would be handy. I've got the Bachmann model of 73050, and if scale doesn't bother you, you can swap out the couplings to enable her to pull HO stock. A model of "Derek Crouch" could probably be knocked up from one of the Ixion 7mm O scale loco's. Thomas himself would be a rather interesting side project too, maybe someone has a 7mm/4mm hudswell clark kit that could be used. You thinking of using OO, O or some other scale? Class 108
Thanks for reply. Have had a good long look at peterborough north which is definatly awesome. I model in n gauge currently making simple two track oval. Would love to model one of nvr stations when my skills have improved. Impressed that you have a city of peterborough loco. Will check out bachman site for details. Haven't seen n gauge version with same number but am sure someone must of done a conversion. Cheers
Coldgunner
I'm hoping for a farish 73050 too, as I'm also an n-gauge modeller. A 'representation' of the Polish Ty-2 that resided at the NVR is easy pickings, along with the DRB-64 that sits at the back of the sheds.
Campaman
I keep toying with the idea of modelling the NVR, Wansford would make a nice model with the river along side. I don't live in Peterborough but stay on the Caravan Club Site at Ferry Meadows regularly, in fact will be there on Sunday.
Pete Harvey
I have drawings and lots of images of the Stations of the Nene Valley Railway after having 3D modeled it for a route project on Microsoft Train Simulator several years ago. The pictures below are from the build of a model of a Duchess for the same project, I will post more screen shots from the project when I have found the project CD's. Class 108
Wansford to peterborough stations would all be great to model. I like FM for its simplicity. Orton mere for contrast with lock, river and flyover, peterborough for its position next to railworld and wansford for its busy sheds, crossing and signal box. They are all worthy projects and a great justification for having a really eclectic rolling stock. I think I have just convinced myself to model them. Big project, might be biting off more than I can chew! Will see how my skills develop with current simple model firstbeforediving in...
Coldgunner
I suppose it depends on whether you want a through station or a terminus. Yarwell would be interesting with its platform, tunnel and local greenery. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with. I'm a regular visitor of the NVR so feel free to use any of my photo's. Horsetan
I have drawings and lots of images of the Stations of the Nene Valley Railway after having 3D modeled it for a route project on Microsoft Train Simulator several years ago. Such a pity that the Contact Sales version which went on sale looked so barren and even caused MSTS to crash!
Anglian
Wansford would indeed make a nice model. The station building is a lovely piece of architecture.

37255
Wansford would certainly be an interesting layout, but even in N I suspect it'd be HUGE! Not much in the way of scenic breaks on the Peterborough end, unless you want to apply liberal amounts of licence...
Class 108
Surprised their is no city of peterborough version in n gauge by gra far. They have other 5MT's! Wonder if trains4you offer a conversion service or know who can do it. Really want one now. Pete, did you do graphics for the other NVR stations and did you do them for the rest of Wansford sidings and sheds? Those pics you posted are great. Pete Harvey
I created all of the 3D models and textures for the Stations, Buildings, Bridges, rolling stock & locomotives the MSTS Route started at Peterborough and went all the way down to Northampton. I hope these help More to follow. Pete
Class 108
Pete, those Wansford station pics are great. Looks like the train simulator might be a good xmas present to myself! Thanks for sharing. Alan
Coldgunner
Pete, are you likely to do the same for TS2013? I think you'd have a good market for it. Class 108, try to get down to the winter gala in February, have a look around the sheds, some really great stuff to see that is not on show. Pete Harvey
No I won't be doing any more trainsim items but I'm happy to share any of the research and items that I collected on the Nene Valley Railway to help some one create a model/layout of the station. If anyone is seriously about doing that please contact me through my web site as there is a lot of items that I have that are connected to a project like this. ess1uk
With the Bachman liking of preservation railway buildings, I'm wondering how long before we see a Wansford station building in the range?
Class 108
Have decided to definatly model Wansford station. It's an ambitious challenge for me. Will take a very long time to do, not expecting an overnight success. Track work and platforms should be no problem but modelling the buildings will be difficult as never done that before. If only metcalf had them in kit form! Ha ha ha. So if anyone has advice feel free to pass it on. Will contact Pete.
