In my limited experience, locos put into a consist don't always act as the manual says they will and I have found that I need to delete the consist before the individual locos return to normal. If you did not do that, you may find that is the cause of the problem.

Agree!! had this happen to me few times when running three or more Bachmann 37"s on consist....
