br-nse-fan
Hi All I have 15+ of these wagons, and would like to upgrade them to have Kadee couplers... however, I am having a rather tough time figuring out the best way to mount couplers at the correct height. Has anyone successfully mounted Kadee's to these wagons, and if so, could you post some photo's as to how you did so? Many thanks in advance! steveb860
Hi Derek, I fitted Kadee no 5's to a rake of PCA's. IIRC I had to adjust height with plasticard checking against a Kadee height gauge. Can't photo, as they are in store. Hope this helps Steve
ess1uk
I've got 10 of the Lima PGAs but I've yet to change the couplings. I'd like to see how you do it.
Alcanman
Hi, Steveb860's method is the usual way to fit Kadees to PCAs or similar wagons which lack NEM coupler pockets. I've also used Gutzold 1170 NEM coupling boxes which have the advantage of being height adjustable. However, they are expensive and I'm not sure if they are still available. Possibly one the specialist continental model shops might stock them. Here's how they look. The peg behind the coupler box allows the box to slide up or down until the correct height is found The coupler box also swivels to allow for tight radius curves Kadee no 17 fits neatly, seen here coupled to a standard Bachmann OBA.
