Grimleygrid
Thanks for the comments Nathan, very kind. To be honest at times I do wonder where I get the patience from!As Waverley West knows only too well, it is probably my OCD that helps! Thanks Class60lover, my wife would agree with your statement, she definitely doesn’t think I am an ordinary modeller!Always nice to have a 60 on shed, lovely models! Thanks David. Yesterday afternoon Grimley Senior brought around the first proper version of the dimmer: photo(1) by AP474, on Flickr This was connected up to the LEDs and I can confirm that the test was successful. GS will now kindly build two more for the other two roads. Yesterday I tidied up the pit lights on the two dead end roads ready for installing the working lights. I am hoping to tidy up the pit lights on road 3 and get the working lights installed on this road over the coming days.
Grimleygrid
Yesterday evening I had a play with the LED dimmer and got the lights to a brightness that seemed about right. Once the LEDs are installed properly they will probably require a bit of adjusting, but that is the beauty of having a dimmer. A few photos, after all the talk of Red Stripe Railfreight on PCM’s Llanbourne thread, I decided to get out my 56049 as well: photo 1a by AP474, on Flickr photo 3a by AP474, on Flickr photo 2a by AP474, on Flickr photo 4a by AP474, on Flickr I am very pleased that the end is in sight for this part of the project. It has been a bit frustrating at times and taken a while to find a decent solution to the inspection pit lighting issue. I definitely feel that progress is being made.
Grimleygrid
I also thought that it wouldn’t be right to not feature some banger blue action, so out came a lovely Romanian blue Grid: photo 1b by AP474, on Flickr photo 3c by AP474, on Flickr photo 2b by AP474, on Flickr Blue 20 photo 4b by AP474, on Flickr Blue meets Railfreight photo 1 by AP474, on Flickr And finally some shots of the pit lights: photo 1c by AP474, on Flickr photo 4c by AP474, on Flickr photo 2c by AP474, on Flickr

Grimleygrid
Hi Class60lover, I do like 20s, especially pairs of them. Although I do prefer 56s and 58s! The 20s will look better once weathered. At the moment it is difficult but hopefully once the LEDs have been installed I will be able to take a few photos. Yesterday I did a bit of work on the board ready for installation, will do an update shortly.
Grimleygrid
Yesterday with the help of Grimley Senior I started preparing the board for installation of the LEDs for the inspection pits. First job was to remove the inspection pits and platforms from the board. Will’s layout proved handy for storage! photo 2b by AP474, on Flickr Then using the router to notch out holes in the board for where the LEDs will sit: photo 2a by AP474, on Flickr photo 4a by AP474, on Flickr photo 1b by AP474, on Flickr photo 3a by AP474, on Flickr photo 3b by AP474, on Flickr Then put everything back photo 2 by AP474, on Flickr Lights being tested ready for installation photo 3 by AP474, on Flickr Next up I need to make a holder for the LEDs which will sit underneath the board. I am hoping to make a start on this later in the week.

You seem to model at a nice speed and get things finished! Merry Christmas. Thanks, but some of projects, or rather most of them, take time. Trouble is, I have too many on the go at once! Eventually they get finished! Will soon be starting on another new layout, to be called Oakley Green! More details in the new year! Best wishes and Happy Christmas
Grimleygrid
Funny isn't it how most projects seem to take a long time! I look forward to hearing about your new project. Your layouts must be taking over your house!
Waverley West
Hi Alex, Just thought I'd drop by to wish you a Very Happy Christmas for you and yours. It's been great to watch Boxenby develop over the past 12 months and enjoy a bit of banter with like-minded fellow believers. Keep up the good work! Season's Greetings, Dave

RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted December 24, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 24, 2014 Funny isn't it how most projects seem to take a long time! I look forward to hearing about your new project. Your layouts must be taking over your house! The new layout will actually be a commission for a friend, so won't be permanently at home. My layouts (all seven) live in the garage ( and no the car has never seen the inside, anyway wouldn't be able open the car door far enough to get out) apart from current project (East Milton Lane) which currently lives in the spare room / office). Grimleygrid
Hi Dave, many thanks for your continued support. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I do enjoy a bit of banter, as they say! I keeps me sane!?! Merry Christmas Mr Class60lover.
Grimleygrid
Seven layouts MM, that is impressive! I wouldn't know which one to play with! I think most garages these days are not used to house the car!
Grimleygrid
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that has dropped by my thread, taken an interest in Boxenby and offered support and advice over the past year. Many thanks indeed it is much appreciated. May I take this opportunity to wish all RMWeb members a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. As I am hoping that Father Christmas brings me a couple of 58s, I am going to reminisce by looking at this book: image by AP474, on Flickr Merry Christmas.

Thanks for your continued interest and support, hopefully next year I will be able to get the depot closer to being finished and more to see. Hi Mark, hopefully once I get the floor down it will really come alive. I am hoping that 2015 will see big strides forward with this project! Hi Andy, the same to you Sir! I am not sure 2015 will be OCD free……make sure you pop in if you are back in Blighty next year! Hi David, it is a very nice book, especially if you like 58s. Some great photos too. I can highly recommend it.
