For those of you who’ve not yet encountered or heard of us, I’d like to introduce our model railway business, based in (the ‘Mothertown of the Potteries’) Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. I am Steve Faulder and I set up TheHobbyGoblin as a Specialist Model Railway Centre with my wife, Jane, in August 2008.

We felt, and continue to feel, a strong sense of responsibility to get things right. As railway modellers ourselves, we have enjoyed creating several layouts over the years. We also knew exactly what we wanted from a model railway shop and set out to achieve that right from the start: namely…

…a friendly, relaxed environment (inc seats); a ‘no obligation zone’, excellent customer support and guidance (whether you’re a complete novice or an experienced modeller); a wide range of stock with ordering service; highly competitive prices; a wide range of additional services - weathering, renumbering, decoder/sound fitting, lamp fitting, repairs and more…; a working DCC/Analogue layout in the shop; an excellent online service.

Our objective is to retain these core principles and grow to create one of the very best model railway specialist centres in the UK. It takes time, but with your support (especially those in Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas) and our determination, we will achieve it!!

For latest updates, please visit our website www.thehobbygoblin.co.uk or consider following us on Facebook and/or Twitter

Thanks for taking the time to read this - please pop in and say hello, if you’re passing nearby!!

This is my local model railway shop, and you couldn't wish to meet a more friendly and welcoming shop owner than Steve.

I am a big believer in supporting your local shop rather than mail order, and I always find him really competitive on price.

All his customers talk to one another, it's real gold mine of help and information.....and there are not many model shops where you get offered a drink. Nothing is too much trouble for Steve, so get down there and introduce yourself as an RMwebber.

I called in again for some bits and pieces last week.......I didnt know how to greet Steve on this occasion.....should I bow......should I say sir.??????

Steve and his shop The Hobbygoblin as some of you will have seen in this months model press, was visited by Prince Charles no less last month.

Steve tried to sell him a Royal Train set, but he politely declined.

Everything in the shop is now by Royal appointment of course.

Is this the first ever visit of Prince Charles to a model railway shop I wonder.????
