winky84
Re ARC's post of 13th March 2013 about the wheel diameter on the trailer bogies, as I was the engineer who supervised the preparation of the manufacturing drawings I can tell him that the wheel diameter was 783.5mm. The reason for this peculiar dimension was that it was originally intended that they should be 785mm but, and here memory is slightly hazy as it was 38 years ago, we needed to put an insulating packing under the primary springs, so to avoid raising the height of the train and more importantly, to avoid the work involved in changing a number of drawings, it was easier to change the wheel diameter and sort the problems out at the series production stage (which never came). BTW the power bogie wheel diameter was 864 mm . Hope this is of interest. So, rounding up to the nearest half mil, I make that 10.5mm wheels for trailer cars and 11.5mm for the power car then... Mandrover
Hi Shane any updates on the etches? It is a project id like to do at some point as I remember them when I was a kid going past our house.
Wolf27
Looking at January to start making these available, need to judge the level of interest first as I would offer these as assembled vehicles. Main issue is the colour matching to the incorrect Hornby colours. Cheers Shane
Mandrover
Id prefer them either bare metal or correct colour and repaint the Hornby to correct colours.
modelpara
Id prefer them either bare metal or correct colour and repaint the Hornby to correct colours. Shane I would agree with this statement, just supply a list of colors to use to paint in correct colors

7APT7
Hi Shane Great APT and the coaches, how long did it take to convert those or did someone else do them for you, they look the superb mate.... I would to buy them from you haha (I Wish) Jamie
Wolf27
Essentially it's scratchbuilt, semi-kit may be a better description. You will have your opportunity to purchase early next year but it's not cheap, as it's all handmade. Cheers Shane
Wolf27
A few pics of the build so far, this is the eight trailers which I am building to someone to augment his Hornby set, colour matched to suit, apart from the coach at the top in the pic below, which is one of my original test buids in the correct colours. Gallows Close
Hello Shane, Those trailers look very well all painted up don't they. Nice. Is there any chance of a photo of the assembled train, and - one question - how have you tackled the glazing? Best wishes, Chris.
Wolf27
Photo of the complete set at the weekend, for the glazing I just used clear plastic without tints, to match Hornby. Cheers Shane

Horsetan
A full set in P4 is what I will be building for myself!.... In that case, do let us know if you decide to make your etches available to the general public.
Wolf27
I do intend making the etches available but still have some work to do on other bits and some revisions to be made. Thinking of making three options available, fully finished, assembled bodyshell but unpainted, which will require the purchaser to complete and basic components, which will require the purchaser to bend, roll and form the etches and assemble. cheers Shane
Jamiel
Thanks Shane, that will be something to look forward to. Your own work on the models you have shown is lovely.Jamie
