  1. The 40 looks fantastic. Cant wait to see it in the flesh. Thanks Lee
  2. Here are some of my pics I took around Verney junction just after the clearing had been done. I live just outside Buckingham so I find all this very interesting. We did look at buying the old station masters house at Marsh Gibbon but decided against for a number of reasons. I will go and take some pictures around Steeple Claydon at some point.
  3. Hi Dave amazing pictures as usual. I like the one of Dent Head with the MGR wagons in. Myself and a friend went to have a look at that derailment a few days before this as the derailed wagons were still in there various positions post derailment and coal everywhere. I cant remember if I took any pictures of it. I cant remember what locos were on site recovering all the stricken wagons either? I cant believe it was nearly 20 years ago now!!!!
  4. Just found this thread. My god i'm absolutely gobsmacked by the quality of the modelling. only got to page 10 so far, it's going to take an enjoyable while to plough through the rest of this thread. Keep up the good work. Thanks Richard
  5. Saw this van in the carpark at Glenfinnan station
  6. I have somewhere photo's of 59005 KJP on the Greenford Grinder excursion top n tailing with a 60 from the 1991 Old Oak common open day. I did the route so had 59 haulage!
  7. Love the detail on the trans pennine mk2's especially the destination window stickers! never seen those modelled before but a vital detail in that period! Where did they come from? I still have a big roll of originals I collected many yrs ago.
  8. Fantastic pictures as usual but in pic J1266 Sedbergh is spelt with e's and no u's. It is a stunning looking viaduct though. Richard
  9. Love the detailing work. Also loving the aircraft pictures especially those from Bruntingthorpe, I used to work on the L1011's that are stored there, also flew all over the world in the too! Keep up the good work and hope to see some more posts soon Richard
  10. Finally caught up on the excellent thread, What an inspiration, stunning scenery and detailing work. Im going to have to get my arse into gear and start my own layout and stop buying stock and locos! Just got to sort out the attic 1st. Keep up the good work and Ilook forward to seeing this progress. Richard
  11. Something to watch. Just found out today i've got to have a hernia op too!
  12. Just caught up on this thread. Stunning weathering, have you thought of videoing your techniques so that we can all see how you create these masterpieces? Bit off topic but sod the Focus and go for the v8 mustang in the background far nicer soundtrack!
  13. Having finally ploughed through the ramblings of this topic I (only at work! naughty I know hehe) I have enjoyed the randomness of the off topic subjects and will now keep up to date with them. I find the pace of the modelling encouraging as having been in my house for 4 yrs now I still havnt finished converting the loft ready for railway room. However I have been sorting other important aspects of the modelling environment such as seating! (namely a pair of 1st class aircraft seats to sit and watch trains go by eventually!) Sorry for the random inserting of replies to much earlier posts but whenever I try the reply using this quote it never seems to pop the quote in the box?? I am a computer biff! Keep up the good work in keeping my boring work days amusing! Richard
  14. For me in the airforce various ones were used on apprentices. Such as being sent to the med centre for lengths of fallopian tube, stores for sky hooks, glass hammers, spirit level bubbles etc. But the best one was sending them to the photographic section to get their ID 10 T. They would be sent there with their gas masks and told to put it on for a picture as they need an id card with this pic on so that they can be recognised when wearing the gas mask. They would have the picture taken whilst holding the ID 10 T plaque like the criminal mugshots. Of course ID 10 is just IDIOT!!!
  15. slightly off topic, but corey environmental have an energy from waste site in east London near belvedere/Erith, and also there is now an energy from waste site at Calvert(I live about 3 miles from it). I was next door to the Severn one last week and it looks huge, though talking to the guys next door they say it will only just produce enough energy to power itself let alone much for the national grid. Was interesting to see the siding access being created next to the road near severn beach
  16. They were on it for more years than that. They did it the whole time I was at secondary school in Kendal(86-91) and for years beyond. Would give anything to be able to see and hear that train again as you could here it for a good 10mins before it appeared slowly going past Birds park farm north of Oxenholme starting its climb up Shap!
  17. I was at Oxenholme station once in the late 80's or early 90's when an 85/1 came in on a passenger train. It promptly failed in the station, the next passenger train behind it then came up behind it and pushed that train into the loop at the south end of the station, and then reversed back out onto the running line and continued with its journey. A 2nd 85/1 that had been held on a freight train in Grayrigg loop was detached from its train and then brought down to Oxenholme loop and attached to the front of the train. This train was then reversed back into the station whereby myself and my friend got on for a ride down to Lancaster.
  18. The Sun will be over a Yard-arm somewhere in the world!
  19. Was quite an entertaing read with all the banter flying around and now im hankering for a Pasty and some Doombar!
  20. I have recently found this thread and have now read all 338 pages. Incredible work there, you have definitely deserved all the accolades the layout has received, and I hope to see this in the flesh before its retired. Loving the banter on here too it has made me giggle and brightened up my dull working days! ( I have not been looking at this whilst I should have been working...... Honest. Richard
