TheGingerTrainspotter
I'm doing some research on the area around Newcastle Central as it was back in LNER days and was wondering where I may be able to find a track plan for Gateshead TMD as it was around that time. Any help would be appreciated!
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted January 28, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 28, 2013 Hi GingerTrainspotter Have you checked out old maps? There are 1/2500 maps for 1919, 1940, 1954 and 1970 all showing the outside tracks. Most of Gateshead was round houses and the track inside them is not shown on these maps. Whoops forgot to give site link <a href="http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html">
johndon
If you can get your hands on a copy of Ken Hoole's Rail Centres: Newcastle, there is a plan of Gateshead as it was in 1933. John
