RMweb Gold JCL Posted January 30, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2013 Hi there This is a long shot, and I've hardly any information to go on, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I was speaking to my uncle this afternoon and he told me that he used to deliver vegetables to Wainfleet station that were then taken away. I have a photo of a Standard Class 4MT with that very train. One day a "brand new green diesel" turned up with a "bull nose". The driver got out and gave all the farm hands in the yard a guided tour. There was a cab at each end (so not a class 20), some windows on the side, and a corridor from one cab to the other. I realise there's not a lot of info, but given the location (Lincolnshire on the Skegness to Grantham line), could you please give me an idea of the likely loco that would be on a goods train so that I can send him a photo of what it looked like? Thank you. Jason

RMweb Gold JCL Posted January 30, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 30, 2013 A book I have says deiselization came in the late 50s, but as they were of age to drive tractors on the road, closest I can get is 61-64 when the goods yard closed. Thanks very much. Jason
Rail-Online
I has got to be a Class 37. I remember when I first went inside one (at Peterboro) and was amazed at what I thought was a big lump of concrete over one bogie - was I correct or am I getting it mixed up with my tri-ang one?!
