R.Langley
Hello all, Wonder if you can help me with a little bit of research I'm doing for locos that operated in Cornwall in and around 1960. Specifically I want to know whether (after 1957 when 7333 was reallocated from Truro to Laira) any 43xx, namely the three allocated to Laira in January 1960 would have operated any trains into Cornwall in the months after January? For reference the three 43xx locos allocated to Laira in Jan '60 were 6301, 7333 and 7335. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Richard
Rugd1022
6301 rings a bell Richard, it might be in one of the Bradford Barton Cornsh albums. Other 43xxs appeared in Cornwall which weren't necessarily 'local' engines.... 6300 also rings a bell. Edit : just had a very quick skim through both volumes and all I've found are 6301, 6356 and 6397!
R.Langley
Thanks for the replies! Though I've managed to stumble over the answer to the question in my own notes - doh! 5376 was allocated to St Blazey (83D) between 02/11/1957 and 30/11/1960. 6300 was also allocated to St Blazey between 06/10/1956 and 26/03/1960. Sometimes a tiny bit of extra checking is all that's required! Cheers, Richard *in fact that's drivel, both were allocated to Truro (83F) not St Blazey!
