RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted February 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2020 I have an inkling that the fearsome declivity featured on the backscene is Ben Nevis, but it looks perfectly at home in Wales.

phil.c
After around thirty years of Pen Y Bryn, I had the idea of scrapping it and starting from scratch again with another layout but after much consideration and some common sence I decided that it would be much too big to take on, so......I'm going to freshen up some of the cameo's, starting with the engine sheds and that area. I've made the plunge and the sheds have been removed, easier to work on that way. A fresh lick of paint, a change of doors, a different slate roof, interior mods, some more detailing and overall weathering, the fence will be changed and a slightly different look to the grass around the track there, Oh, and more detailed foliage, that should take me all of half an hour I guess Here's some pics of how it was. 14
phil.c
The loco shed overhaul is nearly done but here's a bench knocked up for the interior, the vice was cut from a 3mm square section styrene rod. 5
Andrew P
Hi Phil, late to the Party I know, but a great decision to leave it alone, and just do some tweaks and up grades is in my opinion the right move. It's such a photogenic Layout deserves it to have a stay of execution. I love that old workbench, superb modelling. phil.c
Thanks Andrew, after your input to the destruction and a new build, I also think I did the right thing!
phil.c
Couldn't help adding some more to the bench, so, back panel with tools, bolt down sides to vice and something in the jaws. 8
