D9016
Hi all, new entrant to this forum, finally after 30+ years have got round to actually starting the construction of a proper layout. I wanted a bit of round & round to sit & watch the trains go by and a terminus/fiddle yard to go to & from (eventually). It's taken a year or so just to get to the state shown below, and it'll probably take at least as long to get the higher level terminus and lower level fiddle yard sorted - they will both run along the left hand side of the 16x8 room, one above the other but at present there's just an empty space. The continous run sits across the end of the room and is 8x4 with single line circuit, reversing loop with station and a brewery yard coming off the mainline. The main circuit is lifted about 35mm so that there is a little lower level scenery and the brewery is set at the lower level too. A ramp up across the back will lift a line up to the higher level. It's all DC as I have a collection of old stock and although it'll be S&D themed there's a few old Lima diesels in that collection needing a run out so its Code 100 all the way! Looking at a fictional "Dorchester North" setting for the terminus, the station on the lower level loop will be set somewhere between Dorchester and the assumed connection to the S&D proper in the Stalbridge area (i.e. the fiddle yard), the village of Buckland Newton sounds suitably rural. Anyway, here's the 8x4 plan and a few pics of progress so far.

aussiebrfan
Gday and welcome, Looking good, liking the brewery and your curved backscenes. I always think that a curved backscene looks better than corners. Look forward to future developments, regards G.
