CLASS 55
Hello Can someone tell me please how to wiring two Locos? I have a DC layout and want wiring two shunters together so as two motors work in these same direction. Thanks Marcin.
Madcaravanner
Why not remove the motor from one and associated wiring and use it as a dummy loco - I know most of my shunters are quite strong enough to pull a dead loco and 10-12 wagons
JeffP
It SHOULD be as simple as soldering a lead from the SAME wire at the motor or pickups on each shunter, to the same place on the other. Do be aware, however, that manufacturing tolerances can mean that one will run faster than the other, which, if they are coupled, could cause the motor on one to overheat.... As a little boy me and a friend had a Hornby Standard Class 4 tank each. We used to put them on the same track and try and estimate how long it would take for the leading loco to work it's way round the track and catch the following loco, with both running. It was usually about 40 circuits.
