Detailing the Hornby Caley Pug

Recommended Posts

Very much inspired by the Model Rail article by George Dent, I've made a start detailing my Hornby Pug. So far I've added coal bunkers, handrails and beefed up the cylinders with some plastic tube from an old pen. I've also added lamp irons from staples and filed out the front buffer beam. I'm just waiting for a reamer to arrive to open out the cab windows and then I'll be ready to prime. The only real difficulty I've had is with the front handrail, I normally use guitar string for handrails and I think it's too springy as I couldn't get the curve I was after.

Thanks, yes slide bars probably would help, however I think they might be beyond my abilities at the moment. This weekends job is to look at the cylinders again as since modifying them the pug only goes in one direction. When you try the other way something sticks and it won't move...not sure what I've done!
