Admire the models set amongst the real thing in our Engine House and you can travel on a full size steam train. There is also the opportunity to drive a full size steam locomotive, now in their third century of operation at Middleton, as we will be operating ‘Driver for a fiver’ on one of our locomotives – when did you last do that at a Model Railway Exhibition? With the exception of ‘Driver for a fiver’ all areas of the exhibition and the train ride are accessible to visitors with disabilities. Admission (2012 prices held!): Exhibition/Engine House/Platform only Adult: £4.00 Child: £2.00 Family: £10.00 Exhibition/Engine House plus unlimited train rides: Adult: £6.00 Child: £4.00 Family: £18.00 We are expecting up to14 layouts in a variety of scales: O, OO,TT, N at least. Layouts will include Leem Vista (Hornby live steam), Guy’s cuttings (N 1950s/60s steam & diesel), Leeds Weeklyn Hill shed (an imaginary Leeds shed in the 1950s/1960s), Levisham (N gauge in the preservation era), Sabden Glen (OO Scotland) and Wentholm (OO fictional Yorkshire light railway). Reminding us that model railways are fun too we have vintage Tri-ang OO, TT and Big Big, Lego Duplo and Tomy Thomas – all upstairs in our ‘play room’! Traders will include DC Kits/Realtrack Models, Keith’s Model Railways, Leeds Transport Historical Society and second hand tables. This is an event for all the family – not just the modeller. When the non-modellers have exhausted the facilities we offer at Moor Road we have Middleton Woods and Park at the top of the line, the Tulip Retail Park is opposite and the White Rose Shopping Centre is just a short distance away. We pride ourselves on a welcome for all – come and experience it for yourselves. If you need any further details see www.middletonrailway.org.uk or contact Ian Dobson on 01274 613687 (evenings only) or e-mail ian.dobson9015@btinternet.com We're full up for exhibitors and traders for 2013 thanks but please feel free to get in touch if you can offer anything for 2014. AMJ
[bump] This year I'll be a floating hired (for nothing) hand. So you might find me taking £5 off those of you wanting to drive a 305mm:1' scale loco. I hope to see as many of you as possible either Saturday or Sunday.
