The last few months have been incredibly busy - I apologise for the lack of updates. However its now been a year since our first industrial loco body kits were released and we have come a long way since with many happy customers! What would you like to see next?

Evening all, Love seeing the goings on in this thread. I wondered however if anyone here knows of anyone who undertakes CAD commissions for vehicles? I have a personal vehicle project i would like to undertake and have access through our small business to different printers etc for production. However all my CAD guys don't like doing vehicles. Can anyone recommend or point me in the direction of anyone? Many thanks Andy H

Unfortunately the Electrotren chassis is not an ideal starting point for a saddle tank model. I will keep searching for a B2! Thanks all.

Interestingly I asked a friend who is a Fashion Historian and costume expert for the film/TV industry to select a suitable pack and these were the choices. The camera is a 1958 produced item so it is quite late for the 50's. However she pointed out that although fashion is always moving you will always find people with the latest and some with older fashions on a street. A group of friends are likely to share a fashion style (social sciences and all that) but a random group of people will always have some variety. There will be other packs to follow and I do plan some that are more appropriate for the 30's and into the 40's.

Its been a busy few months at Hardy's Hobbies HQ - I apologise for the lack of updates. We have been busy beavering away with lots of new projects. Two loco kits - a Fox Walker saddle tank and a Pre-war Sentinel have been released. The former fits on the Electrotren 0-6-0 chassis while the Sentinel fits on the Hornby 48DS chassis. Soon to be released is an 0-4-0 Manning Wardle H class to fit on a Hornby W4 chassis. Keep an eye out for its release later this month. We also now offer three themed packs of people in 4mm and 7mm scales covering Station Platforms, Footplate, and Shed Scenes. Hello everyone. is anyone able to tell me what size/pitch/thread etc the worm gear is on the old Hornby Terriers? im looking at re-motoring a chassis (don’t as why I’m mad!) and need a new gear. However the gears are only supplied mounted on the motors and not available separately. I’m looking to source or have a replacement made for me. Many thanks Andy

Colin! You are quite right of course - I wasn't morbid enough to go looking in a grave for IKB. Thankfully STEAM museum at Swindon were up for some fun and let me come and scan their specialist mannequin!

Hi Corbs, The body has been produced from a drawing of the original locos but you are correct the chassis is a compromise. Our aim was to produce easy to build kits that anyone can build and would fit on RTR chassis. I have seen some fantastic examples our our kits completed by modellers far more talented than me. However even a beginner can make a really good go of these kits and add something a little different to their layouts. The feedback has been great and the ethos sees to be working. Its not for everyone - those who want finescale industrials have a nice variety of kits available. However (and I am firmly in this camp) not everyone has the skills or time or courage to give one a go. Watch this space for more.... :-)

Thank you for the kind words. We are extremely pleased announce that in conjunction with TS Design we have now released a range of body kits! Currently two version of the semi-freelance Hudswell are available which will shortly be joined by a Hudswell Clarke 1800 class all of which fit on the Electrotren/Jouef chassis. We are working through some other designs that will fit on other chassis. If anyone has any ideas we would love to hear from you! Until then I will leave you with a few photos: Andy

I'm not a painted or weathering expert by any means but I was pleased with these. For those who are put off by the fact these are semi-freelance ( I used the term as they are based on true designs but the compromise with the chassis means they are more generic than true to scale...) there are some further designs coming which are prototypical... Hello everyone! We are sorry we have been so quiet over the last few months - we have had some rather exciting projects on the go. We released loads of new figures. However we have also been working with TS Designs to produce our first locomotive body kit: This semi-freelance Hudswell Clarke will be available as a complete body kit (including body, handrail knobs and wire, smokebox dart, fixing bolts and footplate crew). Hi Simon, I did see your 3D model. I shall keep an eye and look at ordering one. I had debated about drawing one up to print at home but might just buy one of yours to save the effort. Regarding the chassis I assume you mean the outside cylinder one and just remove the cylinders etc? I think it would be perfect for my needs. The only change I might be interested in is removing the gear from the RH side of the smokebox. Other than that its pretty much the Matthew Murray I worked on... Watching with interest!
