RMweb Premium The White Rabbit Posted July 5, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 5, 2016 I hope you asked HM for a licence to crenellate. With all this castle building, she'll be wondering if you're about to launch a rebellion.
allan downes
Number three castle finished and named Castle Douglas by wifey where we stayed for a week and a town in Dumfries and Galloway that never had a castle in its life - just a Tescos and a rip off fish 'n' chip shop ! allan downes
tudor in the Sahara heat. Here in the North East it's 90 in the shade and feels like a 100. We have air conditioning but it's still too hot to work so, with another fishing village under way, I took a few photographs instead in brilliant sunshine that was hot enough to fry an egg on a shovel ! Cheers. Allan PS. This is two units butted up together on a wonkey box hence the wonky alignment. Edited July 19, 2016 by allan downes

allan downes
The Old Mill revisited. After a few years break from the hobby playing guitar to any body that would listen, this was a 'comeback' effort in Pyruma Fire Cement, a home made stone press and Polyfilla textured tiles. So, with the seemingly endless guarantee of blue skies and sunshine, I humped the lot outside, dropped it twice, cursed and took a hundred pictures of which only a few were any good. Anyway, dis is dem Cheers. Allan. The Old Mill revisited. allan downes
Computer went crazy. Lost all my files. Now opening new folders by downloading pictures on the forum/s into my new files. This is just a test to see if it worke - one picture of a castle. If it doesn't, then to hell with it ! Cheers. Allan
mullie
Allan If you can't recover the files there is a good chance someone else can. Know anyone who is good with computers? Because of my work I always back things up online using things like google, Dropbox, One Drive etc that enable you to have files on a computer, backed up online and accessed from anywhere. allan downes
Hi Mullie. Thanks for that. I had most of my files on a memory stick but they appeared as seperate pictures - about 3,000 of 'em ! - instead of in folders. Anyway, I'm slowly going through the forum/forums downloading pictures back into my files then dragging and dropping them into appropriate folders - at this rate I'll still be draggin' an' droppin' long after I'm dead ! RMweb Gold teaky Posted July 24, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 24, 2016 Are you actually certain the files have been lost and not just moved? Have you tried searching for one by name? Would it help to look at the files on the memory stick by date? Perhaps that would be a way of grouping them and minimising the number you needed to open. Alternatively, you could choose to display them as icons which might allow you to identify each picture without actually clicking and opening. btw I wouldn't rely on a memory stick for a back up. At the very least keep an additional duplicate.

Anyway to restore them permanantly back into my files ?
RMweb Gold teaky Posted July 25, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 25, 2016 That's good to hear Allan. I don't know what operating system you are running but assuming it's Windows just click on the icon at the bottom left of your screen and open Windows Explorer. Locate the files (use search again if necessary) and then move them to where you want them to be. You can often do this a whole folder at a time. Once you have everything sorted again make a back up! mullie
Don't use memory sticks as a source of back up, think of them as a more reliable version of the old floppy disk. External hard drives are cheap so you could consider buying one or use an online back up. Glad you seem to have found everything. mullie
Hi Mullie. What's an External hard drive, what's it look like and where do I install it ? Thanks mate. Allan Allan They look like this and are usually connected via USB like your memory stick and have a separate power supply. I would buy one with 2 Terra bytes of storage if possible as you are storing photos which take loads of space.
allan downes
Photoshop test. This is crap of the first order but - I bought the Serif package ( 90 quid ) and managed to eventually photoshop images and backgrounds to my pictures. However, before I could use them I had to resize to 25% but couldn't do it. So, I put the picture up on the screen and photographed it then resized it in 'paint' and uploaded it onto the forum, which, as you can see, worked but it's pure crap. So, does any body know how to resize pictures in Serif and also how to change the pics from DDP to JPEG ?
